Privacy Policy

Last updated 23 September 2026. This notice explains how the Skedadel apps on Google Play collect, use, and share personal information, and how to ask for your account to be deleted.

Who we are

Skedadel (Pty) Ltd provides on-demand and scheduled last-mile delivery in South Africa. Skedadel Technology (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information collected through the Skedadel services. This notice is written for users in South Africa and is meant to be read with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Apps this policy covers

This policy covers the Skedadel Customer app (package name com.skedadel.customer), the Skedadel Driver Agent app (package name com.skedadel.driver), the Skedadel websites, and the delivery service those products provide. It applies to customers, vendors, and delivery drivers.

Information we collect

Account details: name, email address, phone number, login name, password, delivery address, profile photo, payment or banking details, and app settings. Identity details, where a delivery or an application needs them: driver's licence or other government identification, date of birth, photo, vehicle and insurance details, an emergency contact, and background-check results for drivers. We may record age when an order includes alcohol or cigarettes. Order details: the goods, quantity, pickup and drop-off, date and time, amount charged, distance, and payment method. Location: precise or approximate location of a customer or driver while a delivery is underway, and driver location used to offer work, navigate, and show progress. Driver location may also be collected when the Driver Agent app is not open, so we can support the driver and complete the delivery record. Device and usage data: device model, operating system, IP address, language, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, app pages viewed, crash data, and mobile network information. Communications sent through the app, SMS, WhatsApp, or support, including the time and content of those messages, so we can help with disputes and safety. Recordings you send us of a safety or service incident. Ratings, feedback, and referral details.

How we use information

We use this information to open and maintain accounts, check identity, assign a driver, track a delivery, take payment, pay drivers, send receipts, prevent fraud, support users, and keep the service reliable. We use ratings to review drivers, vendors, and customers. We may send service messages such as order updates, and marketing if you have agreed to it. You can opt out of marketing in the app or from the unsubscribe link in a message. Receipts and account messages will still be sent. We do not sell personal information.

How we share information

For each delivery we share the customer's first name, delivery address, and order details with the driver and the vendor preparing the goods. We share the driver's first name, photo, vehicle make, model, colour, and registration, and the live location of that delivery, with the customer and the vendor. We share information with providers who process it only to perform a service for us. Those providers include payment processors, secure cloud storage, identity and background-check services, Google (including Google Maps) for location, and Meta where Facebook business tools are used on the apps or websites. We also share information with Skedadel affiliates and franchisees when they help provide the service, with a card issuer if a payment must be checked, and with the South African Police Service, a regulator, or another authority when the law requires it or when it is necessary to protect someone's safety or to handle a legal claim. We do not share personal information so that another company can market to you, unless you have agreed.

Location

The apps need location access to offer deliveries in your area, show a route, and confirm that a driver is at the pickup or drop-off. Android and iOS will ask you before the app uses precise location. You can turn location off in the app privacy settings or in your phone settings. If you turn it off, the app cannot offer or complete a location-based delivery. A customer can allow the app to share their location with the driver from the time an order is placed. If you turn on emergency sharing, the app can send the approximate location, vehicle details, names, phone number, and the pickup and drop-off to emergency services when that feature is used.

Device identifiers

Before the Android apps are used, Android shows the permissions they request. We use device and advertising identifiers to protect accounts, measure crashes, and understand which parts of the app are used. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your phone settings.

Security

We limit access to personal information, require staff and suppliers who handle it to keep it confidential, and use technical measures suited to the service. Recordings of incidents that we store are kept in encrypted form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide the service, to meet a legal duty, or to handle safety, fraud, an unpaid amount, or a dispute. Vendor account records are kept for at least 7 years. After a customer or driver asks for deletion, we delete that account's information within 30 days, unless one of those reasons requires us to keep it for longer.

Delete your account

You can ask us to delete your account in the Skedadel app under Settings, then Privacy. You can also email support@skedadel.co.za from the email address on the account. Say whether the account is for the Customer app or the Driver Agent app, and include the phone number on the account. We will delete the account and the personal information linked to it, subject to the retention rules above. Removing the app from your phone does not delete the account stored on our systems. You can also ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, at the same email address.

Your choices and rights

You can update your name, phone number, email address, payment method, and photo in the app. You can refuse a permission the app does not need for the task you are doing, and you can withdraw consent. If you withdraw consent for information a feature needs, that feature will stop working. You may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa about our handling of your personal information, under sections 74 and 75 of POPIA. The Regulator's website is https://inforegulator.org.za/.

Children

The Skedadel apps are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly open an account for a child. Email support@skedadel.co.za if you believe a child has given us personal information and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

Skedadel operates in South Africa. Some providers, including mapping, cloud, and payment providers, may process information in other countries. When they do, we require them to protect it in line with POPIA.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and change the date at the top. If you keep using the apps after the date of a change, the updated policy applies to information collected from that date.
